Theyyam is the sacred ritual artform of the state Kerala in South India. It dates back atleast 1500 years and is usually performed before the village shrine,groves and in some families as ancestors worship with elaborate rites and rituals .The word Theyyam means God and hence the Theyyam dance is known as "Dance of Gods".🙏This unique dance form is the synthesis of ritual,dance,vocal and instrumental music,painting, sculpture and also literature and is performed to worship Hindu Goddess Kali for which it is also known as "Kaliyattam".🙏 The main highlights of Theyyam are the colorful costumes and exotic makeup and the performer is called as Kolam,who represents the divine heroic character .The facial makeup is so intricate and so the artist has to lie on the floor for hours to together while the designs are painted on their faces. The saree is a kerala tissue saree in half white color. Its easy to maintain with a soft handwash. The colors used are high quality fabric colors which gives a bright eye catching look. ❤
