Padma Priya Balu is a seasoned artist proficient in traditional forms of Indian paintings like Tanjore Gold Foil Painting, Kerala Mural and Quilling.She is a stay-at-home mom with two college going kids.
She loved art since her childhood. Has been running an art school in India for last 10 years with more than 250 kids enrolled. She herself has learnt a pure classical South Indian form of painting called "Tanjore"in her later years. That shows her dedication to learning arts and teaching arts.
Tanjore paintings uses bright colors, semi-precious stones, pearls. 22 carat gold foil further adds to the appeal. Relief work gives a 3-dimensional effect to the whole painting. The theme of Tanjore painting revolves around Hindu Gods/Goddess. Quilling is done by folding and pasting together very thing strips of paper. They are centuries old heritage which Priya wants to preserve and pass on to younger generations. She is one of the torchbearers of Arts, which we are very proud to have.
Priya hopes to bring awareness about these forgotten classical art forms. People should be able to recognize it, understand its perceived value and appreciate its long history. She wants people to even develop skills like perseverance, patience, dedication in their life by learning or doing arts.
