Overview:

It is for kids for ages 5- 10 years. Warli is tribal art which originated in Maharashtra, where it is still practiced even today. Warli art is composed of simplified and elementary graphic constructs. They use basic geometric shapes for depicting usual symbols of life and the world around them. Humans in Warli art would be represented by 'stick' figures or triangles reflecting the basic anatomy. Mother nature is the inspiration for this art where all the shapes and patterns are used from nature create these paintings. For example triangle shape is inspired by mountains. This art form is so versatile we can express any emotion/scenery, traditional or modern in simple lines and patterns to convey the message crisp and clear to viewers. The whole story of Ramayana can be drawn in this Warli form with different events in a sequence of warli pictures. This is one of the best ways to teach our kids culture and value systems in an artistic method.

The Warli class will be taught by miss Toshavee Dolas. Has been teaching arts for last few years.  She is a self trained great folk artist. Tosh lives in NC, USA.
